We Must Be Prepared for Martyrdom

CNA/David Ramos

Pope Francis: Every Christian Must Be Prepared for Martyrdom

Quoting Blessed Oscar Romero, the Pope said, 'We must be willing to die for our faith, even if the Lord does not give us this honor.'

All Hallows Eve (Halloween)

"The Divine grace that is revealed in the Church’s commemoration of [All Hallows Eve] Halloween should be our participation in what is called the Communion of Saints. This Communion of Saints means that this world is not all that there is, and that those who have passed through the experience of death, continue to love us.. It also means that the Christian can hope that God’s power in Christ to save and redeem extends beyond this world to the next, and as such, we can hope.."

'The Trouble With Angels'...

WEB-TROUBLE-WITH-ANGELS-MOVIE-1966-Sony-Entertainment

This was my most favorite movie as a pre-teen!  One minute it would make me laugh,  and another moment  it would make me cry.  At that time I was living in an unhappy family, fallen away from the Catholic faith.

At the conclusion of the movie when one of the girls decides to join the convent,  I would always get a huge lump in my throat and have to go hide out for awhile.

Though this movie is from the '60's, I would still highly recommend it today.

10 Reasons Why “The Trouble with Angels” Still Holds Up
Unapologetically Catholic and "scathingly brilliant", this classic film remains a favorite

Feast Day of Apostles, St. Simon and St. Jude

PRAYER TO STS. SIMON AND JUDE,
APOSTLES FEAST DAY: OCTOBER 28

Father, you revealed yourself to us through the preaching of your apostles Simon and Jude. By their prayers, give your Church continued growth and increase the number of those who believe in you. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Little is known of these two apostles, whose names are always linked in the Gospel accounts. Simon is called the Zealot, and Jude “son of James”.

Philip Rivers, Devoted Catholic

2014-10_LT-PhilipRivers

This is an older article, it mentions River's 5 children, and they're now expecting their 8th. But it is still very interesting, as Rivers talks about his Catholic faith, his football career and his family life. He also offers tips for teens (the audience written for) about how to stay true to your faith.

Happiness and God's Love

“People are made for happiness. Rightly, then, you thirst for happiness. Christ has the answer to this desire of yours. But he asks you to trust him. True joy is a victory, something which cannot be obtained without a long and difficult struggle."

“The world you are inheriting is a world which desperately needs a new sense of brotherhood and human solidarity. It is a world which needs to be touched and healed by the beauty and richness of God’s love."

~ St. John Paul II
